1. Financial assistance is granted for each academic year and reapplication is required each subsequent academic year. All awards are contingent upon full-time attendance, unless otherwise stated, and are subject to the student's continuing ability to meet the specific requirements of each award and any terms governing your admission to the University. Changes to enrollment and/or housing assumptions, may result in a revision to financial aid awards.
2. Students are required to report to this office all scholarships or other financial assistance from outside sources. In addition, the University reserves the right to adjust the financial assistance previously awarded due to the receipt of other awards not listed on the latest award summary.
3. Continued eligibility for institutional funds such as the AU Financial Grant, AU Panther Grant, Opportunity, Athletic, Recognition and Alumni awards require a cumulative grade point of 2.0 at the end of each semester. Endowed and Restricted awards are not automatically renewable since they are dependent upon availability of funds.
4. Estimated awards which are dependent on funding from federal and state governments are subject to change, and therefore, may not be applied against the student's financial obligation to Adelphi.
5. Students receiving institutional scholarships that exceed the cost of tuition or grants specifically for room and board costs may be subject to federal income tax on the amount by which the award exceeds tuition.
6. If your application is selected in the federal verification process, you may be required to provide additional information. The posting of any federal assistance to the student's account will be delayed until verification is completed. Awards may be adjusted based on the results of the verification process in compliance with federal guidelines.
7. Federal Pell Grants will be posted upon receipt of a valid federal document by the last day of enrollment.
8. If the assumptions we made about your enrollment/housing status are not accurate you must notify us at FinancialServices@adelphi.edu and inform us of your correct enrollment/housing status for the fall and spring semesters. Your estimated cost of attendance (budget) will be revised accordingly.
9. TAP awards in combination with institutional awards may not exceed the cost of tuition in accord- ance with NYS and Adelphi guidelines. Consequently, reductions of University awards may be required. TAP awards will be posted no earlier than the end of the drop/add period for the semester of payment. TAP awards are estimated based on information provided on your completed FAFSA.
10. Withdrawal from all enrolled courses at the University may make a student ineligible to receive financial assistance. Some awards are subject to recalculation using a federally-mandated formula. Students who are academically dismissed or eligible for dismissal are not eligible for financial assistance. Also refer to the enclosed chart for the requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress. Go to financial-aid.adelphi.edu/bill/refund/ for all information on refund policies.
11. All federal aid applicants will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) directly from the federal government which should be reviewed for accuracy. If you left certain data blank on your federal application your answers were assumed to be zero. If this assumption is incorrect, or if any other changes must be made, you must correct the appropriate information at fafsa.gov
12. If you have been awarded Federal Work Study, job placement information will be posted in the Center for Career and Professional Development prior to the start of the semester.
13. If you have been awarded any federal loan please check the most current loan program information on our website at financial-aid.adelphi.edu. Please note that there are different loan programs.
14. If your loan limit increases mid-year due to a change in class status you must contact us to be repackaged for additional loan eligibility. You will be sent a letter indicating the amount posted to your account and your option to cancel the loan.
15. Institutional scholarships designated for tuition only will be adjusted if other tuition only funds are received.
